www.e-registryclean.com Messenger Pop Up Scam

If you are using your PC and a window pops up that says Messenger Service and directs you to a web site, e-registryclean.com , that will supposedly clean your PC, ignore them and follow the directions below! This web site is a scam! So are:

www.cleanthispc.com
www.regfix.com
www.patchupdate.info
www.registrycleanerexpress.com
www.dlpatch.com
www.cleaningharddrive.com

All of these are scams!

To permanently disable these types of messages, perform one of the following options. We actually recommend that you do both for maximum protection.

Option 1: Disable Windows Messenger

  • Click on the Start button and choose Run
  • Type services.msc and click OK
  • In the new window find Messenger and right-click on it.
  • Select Properties
  • Click Disable and then OK.

Option 2: Enable Windows XP Firewall

(Recommended if you are not running another firewall program)
  • Click on the Start button and choose Control Panel
  • Open Network Connections
  • Right-click on your Internet connection and choose Properties
  • Click on the Advanced tab
  • Under Windows Firewall, click the Settings button
  • Set the firewall to On.
  • Click OK and close out of those windows.
