A few people have asked us about CTMBHA.DLL - a file that shows up in their list of programs that startup automatically with Windows. What does this file do?
It turns out that this file is not spyware. It is installed by the Creative Audigy line of sound cards. If you have a new PC with an Audigy sound card or an Audigy processor on your motherboard, there is a good chance that this file is running on startup. The only information we have on what the CTMBHA.DLL file does is that it is the "Creative Filter AudioControlMB Module". To us, it sounds like it helps Windows control the audio on your motherboard. It looks pretty harmless, so we suggest leaving it in place until Creative releases more information about what it does. If you are curious as to whether you may have spyware hiding on your computer, we suggest that you run through the steps of our Get Rid of Spyware Guide. |
