We've had several reports of people contracting the smitfraud-c.gp trojan. Smitfraud is usually associated with rogue anti-malware programs, that is, programs that pretend to rid your PC of malicious software but in reality are installing malicious software of their own. We'll show you how to get rid of this nasty virus.

Remove Smitfraud-c.gp

Your first step is to download and install a good anti-malware program. There are two that we recommend:

You can install both with no problem - they are free and remove 95% of the malware infections we normally see. Install the software and run a full scan of your PC. Let the software clean out any malware it finds, then reboot.

Next, to make sure that you have nothing left on your PC, follow the steps in our Get Rid of Spyware Tutorial. It has everything you need to make sure that your computer becomes and stays clean, and all the software we recommend is free.
